What is TxPSBP?
The Texas Public Safety Broadband Program (TxPSBP) was formed within the Texas Department of Public Safety and charged with the planning and coordination of activities for the Texas portion of the Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Program (NPSBN). TxPSBP is funded through the State and Local Implementation Grant Program (SLIGP) administered by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA). Texas received approximately $6M of the $121.5M distributed to all 56 states and territories.
Under the SLIGP grant, TxPSBP is responsible for preparing the State and its numerous and diverse stakeholders for the successful implementation of the NPSBN through the following activities:
- Outreach & Education
- Requirements gathering
- Data collection
- Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) development
- Statewide Communications Interoperability Plan (SCIP) revisions
TxPSBP works closely with the Texas Interoperable Communications Coalition (TxICC).
